Houston Stokes

Houston A. Stokes is an experienced litigator and trusted advocate to both individuals and companies. He has practiced employment law nationwide for his entire legal career, handling thousands of employment disputes involving sexual harassment, discrimination, wage and hour, trade secrets, whistleblowers, retaliation and restrictive covenants, among others. Houston also has extensive experience litigating complex class, collective and hybrid actions brought under federal and state laws.

He is personally invested in every case and crafts unique and novel litigation strategies to meet each client’s goals, whether that is an early resolution or taking a case to trial and through appeal. Houston translates complex legal issues into relatable common-sense solutions. He delivers cutting-edge, responsive and cost-effective legal representation tailored to each individual client’s needs. He also advises corporate clients on all types of employment issues, including employment policies and handbooks, internal investigations, terminations, accommodation requests and employment agreements.

Houston also founded and litigates for his New York clients via Stokes Law PLLC. Prior to forming that firm, Houston practiced over a decade at Littler Mendelson, the world’s largest employment and labor firm. He routinely traveled throughout the country litigating complex cases and led teams of attorneys to achieve client objectives. Before entering private practice, Houston served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. William P. Johnson, the Chief United States District Judge for the District of New Mexico. While in law school, he served as Lead Articles Editor of the Washington & Lee Law Review.
